KARACHI, Apr 19 (NNI): The bomb disposal squad (BDS) has unveiled alarming findings in their preliminary report on the suicide blast in Landhi’s Mansehra Colony in Karachi.
According to the report, the suicide attack targeted a foreigners’ car in Mansehra Colony, resulting in severe damage to the vehicle. The incident claimed the lives of two attackers, one of whom was identified as the suicide bomber.
The BDS report revealed that the suicide bomber’s head and legs were recovered from the blast site, while the other attacker was shot dead on the spot.
Further examination by the BDS found a cache of weapons and explosives in the possession of the terrorists. Among the recovered items were six hand grenades, four rifle grenades, and a launcher fitted to a submachine gun (SMG). Additionally, ball bearings, indicative of shrapnel used in explosive devices, were also found, as well as water and petrol bottles.
The report highlighted that the dead terrorist was found with a grenade in his pocket and another in his hand. The SMG was equipped with a launcher, with a rifle grenade in the launcher, the report said.
The authorities are conducting thorough investigations to ascertain the motives behind the attack and identify any potential accomplices.
On Friday morning, two terrorists were killed in a suicide attack targeting a convoy of foreign nationals near the Mansehra Colony stop in Landhi area of Karachi. An injured security guard also died during treatment, while a passer-by and another guard were among those injured.
According to authorities, the attack was aimed at the vehicle carrying foreign nationals. The Sindh inspector general of police, in a statement, confirmed that five foreigners were travelling in the convoy, all of whom escaped unharmed.
The Japanese survivors have been moved to a safe place in police custody, the police spokesperson, Abrar Hussain Baloch, said. NNI
