ISLAMABAD, (NNI): Denouncing the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to give relief to former premier Imran Khan on corruption charges, the ruling alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Friday announced staging a protest in front of the SC building in Islamabad on Monday.
This was announced by PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman while talking to the media after the meeting of the alliance under his chairmanship in Islamabad today.
In the meeting, self-exiled former premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz participated via video link.
Maulana Fazl declared the SC’s decision to grant bail to Imran Khan beyond the constitution and the law of the country. He said instead of bringing the criminal to the court of justice, he is being protected.
He categorically stated that they were not ready to accept the decision of 2-3 judges of the SC. He also said that the Supreme Court should be told that she is the ‘Mother of Law’ and not a ‘Mother-in-Law’.
The PDM chief also said that everything has been put at stake for Imran Khan and all reliefs and concessions are being given to him.
During the presser, the PDM chief who is also head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) said that the top court ordered not to take action against Imran Khan for the incidents after May 9. He added that the judiciary was giving rulings beyond the Constitution.
Blasting the apex court, the PDM chief said the leniency was given to three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Fazl said even Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo was not provided a telephone to inquire about the health of her ailing wife — Kulsoom Nawaz.
“Was this kind of leniency given to Maryam Nawaz or Faryal Talpur?” the JUI-F chief asked.
But on the other hand, Khan was being given “VIP protocol”, he added.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman directed all workers to leave every work and reached outside the SC building on Monday. He also appealed to the nation to gather outside the SC against its decisions.
The PDM chief warned that if someone tried to stop them will face a very hard reaction.
Responding to a question, the PDM chairman vowed that the sit-in will remain “peaceful” but warned that if they were manhandled, then they will give a curt reply.
The PDM chief further said that if the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) or any other group attack the state, they were declared traitor and the group is banned.
Referring to the attacks on the General Headquarters (GHQ) and ransacking of the Lahore Corps Commander’s home, Fazl said that it will be regrettable if action is not taken against the PTI.
Earlier, in the PDM summit, the ruling alliance of 13 parties prepared the post-bail strategy of former premier Imran Khan.
The meeting expressed concerns over the decision of the Supreme Court and Islamabad High Court and said how the courts could give relief to the accused [Imran Khan] involved in a violation of laws.
The meeting was attended by several political leaders including former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, PPP chief Aftab Sherpao and BNP Mengal chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Senator Tahir Bizenjo, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Hyderi of JUIF, Akram Durrani, Maulana Asad Mehmood and others. PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif also participated in the meeting through video link. NNI
