LAHORE, Jul 10 (NNI): An anti-corruption court in Lahore on Monday issued release order of former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in the Punjab Assembly illegal appointments case.
Elahi’s guarantor Rana Farrukh Ameen submitted Rs1 million surety bonds on behalf of the PTI president after which the court issued his release order.
Last month, the anti-corruption court accepted the past-arrest bail application of the former chief minister.
Special Judge Anti-Corruption Ali Raza Awan heard the case.
Elahi was accused of making illegal recruitments in the Punjab Assembly during his tenure as chief minister of the province.
According to the prosecutor, the former chief minister and others appointed 12 candidate who had failed the written examination to BS 17.
Separately, in another case related to money laundering and suspicious transaction against Pervaiz Elahi, the Lahore Banking Court adjourned the hearing on former chief minister’s bail application till Tuesday.
Banking Court Judge Aslam Gondal conducted the proceedings.
The court sought the record of the case from the FIA. The court also directed Elahi’s lawyer to present his arguments.
The Federal Investigation Agency registered a case against Elahi and others for laundering money illegally. NNI
