LAHORE, Aug 14 (NNI): Like other parts of the country, a ceremony in connection with Independence Day celebrations was organised in Hazuri Bagh, Lahore, in which Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi hoisted the national flag and visited the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal.
A smart contingent of Pakistan Scouts presented a salutation to the chief minister with musical instruments while little children, dressed in cultural costumes from all over Pakistan, welcomed him to the tune of national songs.
Mohsin Naqvi appreciated the efforts of the children. He unfurled the national flag at Alamgiri Gate. Famous singer Atif Aslam sang the national anthem on the occasion.
Special children also performed at the event. After seeing their performance, the chief minister came close to the special children and appreciated them for their brilliant performance.
Addressing the ceremony, he stressed the need for working with honesty for the development of the country, stating that disappointment was a sin.
The US consulate general, senior officers, schoolchildren and a large number of people belonging to all walks of life attended the ceremony. NNI
