RAWALPINDI, Aug 15 (NNI): Awami Muslim League chief and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Monday all the hopes and aspirations of the PDM parties dashed to ground on appointment of caretaker prime minister.

In his message on social networking website X, Rashid said the 13 parties seemed ashamed of each other. The PDM parties had not even courage to congratulate each other on appointment of caretaker PM. He said these parties were asking from each other what and how it had happened.

Rashid said the way the 16-month-old incompetent PDM government departed and humiliation they had to face was also a part of history. They (former PDM rulers) were not even considered worthy of being consulted, he stated.

The former federal minister asked in which country of the world Section 144 was imposed on Independence Day. He said electricity was cut off in those areas where the headquarters of all the military organisations were located. People were arrested and locked up in police stations, he added.

He said the institutions should make it clear where women and children were kept after they were taken away from their homes.

The senior politician was of the view that seeds of hatred which were being sown in Pakistan would not yield any positive results. The consequences might be dire, he warned. He said no head of Pakistan’s political party was present at the oath-taking ceremony of the caretaker prime minister on Monday.

The AML head further said everyone was looking at each other asking what had happened and how it happened. They (PDM allies) were avoiding each other to make any comment on the new development because they had no courage.

Just as the old cabinet members’ names were placed on the ECL, the current cabinet of 85 members should also be put on the list, he said. NNI
