ISLAMABAD, Aug 17 (NNI): President Arif Alvi Thursday administered oath to members of newly appointed caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s cabinet.

President Alvi also approved the appointment of three special assistants to the prime minister as well that also include Ahad Khan Cheema, a close aide of former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The wife of incarcerated Kashmiri freedom leader Yasin Malik, Mushaal Malik has also been included in the cabinet as special assistant to the prime minister, demonstrating the resolve of the country as well as the caretaker government to support the freedom movement of occupied Kashmir.

Here is the full list of federal ministers and advisers with their portfolios.

Commencing with the national anthem and the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, the ceremony was attended by Interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, politicians, and notable figures.

Following the swearing-in, Prime Minister Kakar promptly allocated portfolios to his team, as per a notification by the Cabinet Division.

Notably, former State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) governor Shamshad Akhtar was entrusted with the portfolios of Finance and Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics, and Privatization. Previously, Dr. Akhtar held the position of finance minister in the caretaker government before the 2018 general election.

Former foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani assumed the mantle of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. With a distinguished career, he served as the SBP governor and held pivotal diplomatic roles, contributing significantly to bilateral and multilateral engagements.

Meanwhile, Eminent textile industrialist and Chief Executive of Ejaz Group of Companies Dr. Gohar Ejaz has been entrusted with the portfolios of Commerce, Textile, Industries, and Production.

Furthermore, ministries including Interior, Overseas Pakistanis, and NARCO were assigned to Senator Sarfraz Bugti, who previously held the portfolio of Minister of Home and Tribal Affairs of Balochistan.

Lieutenant General (retd) Anwar Ali Haider was designated with the portfolios of Defence, Defence Production, and Aviation.

In a noteworthy move, the caretaker Prime Minister has convened the inaugural session of his cabinet, scheduled for Friday. NNI
