ISLAMABAD DEC 24 , (NNI): Consul General Tariq Karim spoke on “Doing Business with Pakistan” at an exclusive business roundtable organized by World Trade Center-Kansas City during his visit to Kansas City. The event was attended by prominent businessmen, economic policy makers and representatives of think tanks.
Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General highlighted investment opportunities in Pakistan, growing economic and trade partnership between Pakistan and the Midwest region, and role of the vibrant Pakistani-American community.
The Consul General stated that Pakistan’s geo-strategic location, its market size and demographic dividend, rich human and natural resources, extensive physical and digital infrastructure, liberal investment policies and rapidly growing tech sector have made Pakistan an important business and investment destination in the world.
Consul General Tariq Karim gave a detailed briefing on investment and trade opportunities in Pakistan and incentives for foreign investors in different sectors. He shared that the Government of Pakistan has formed a Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as a ‘single-window’ platform to facilitate investors which will shorten lengthy business processes by developing a whole of the government approach to tap potential in key sectors of IT, energy, agriculture and mineral exploration.
The Consul General highlighted that there was tremendous potential between Pakistan and the U.S. to further expand their economic and trade partnership.
He identified trade, IT, agriculture, energy, mining, healthcare, education and tourism as important areas for cooperation between Pakistan and the Midwest region.
He emphasized that it is an ideal time to invest in Pakistan while encouraging the business community in the greater Kansas City region and Pakistani Diaspora to benefit from investment opportunities in Pakistan.
There was also an interactive Q&A session during which the Consul General responded to various questions related to business opportunities in Pakistan. NNI
