RAWALPINDI, Jan 17 (NNI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has asked the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) to play its role in holding a free and fair election in the country.
Talking to journalists outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, he revealed that he held talks with Imran Khan regarding the allocation of tickets for the impending elections.
“Efforts are underway to finalize the list promptly.” He said the PTI will issue a list of supported candidates, with their respective electoral symbols tonight.
He also appealed to the nation to vote for PTI candidates in the upcoming polls.
Gohar Ali Khan assured that despite the alleged seizure of the PTI electoral symbol, the party has not expressed any lack of confidence in the Supreme Court. Instead, the party trusts the legal system to address electoral matters justly, he added.
He lamented that their chosen electoral symbol had been confiscated, a move that could potentially impact the party’s representation in the upcoming elections. However, he asserted that PTI remained committed to the democratic process and had faith in the legal institutions to safeguard their rights.
Encouraging the party’s supporters, Barrister Gohar urged them not to lose hope. He emphasized the significance of voter support and called for preparations leading up to the crucial election day on February 8.
Despite the challenges, he encouraged supporters to remain resilient and actively participate in the democratic process.
Barrister reiterated the party’s commitment to a fair and transparent election process. He urged voters to stand united and prepare for the upcoming challenges, emphasizing that the party’s determination remains unwavering despite obstacles.
To a question regarding Irani missile attack, he replied that Iran should be responded as any sovereign country would. “Our policy regarding Afghanistan was correct.” NNI
