ISLAMABAD, Jan 23 (NNI): The Interior Ministry on Tuesday forwarded to the federal cabinet the summary for the deployment of Pakistan Army personnel at polling stations during the general elections.
The army personnel will be deployed after the cabinet gives its nod.
It is worth-mentioning here that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had sought the deployment of personnel from different security forces, including 277, 000 from the army, to provide security during the elections.
On the other hand, army personnel will be deployed at all sensitive and most sensitive polling stations in Lahore.
On the request of the police, 4, 500 and 4,000 officers and personnel from army and Rangers, respectively will perform duties on the election day.
Out of total 4,300 polling stations in the Punjab capital, 3,800 have been declared most sensitive. NNI
