LAHORE, (NNI): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered to ensure delivery of medicines to patients at their doorsteps and warned strict legal action will be taken against corrupt practices in government hospitals.
Chairing 3-hour long meeting on health projects, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif issued directive to make the field hospital and clinic project fully functional as soon as possible.
CM Maryam Nawaz also approved the construction of Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha near DHQ hospital.
Moreover, Punjab Chief Minister also approved the Construction of Govt Cancer Hospital in Lahore, adding that first phase of cancer hospital in Lahore should be completed during the current fiscal year.
She directed that cancer patients of all stages will be treated in the first govt cancer hospital. The best cancer specialist doctors in the world will be brought to Lahore Cancer Hospital. Maryam Nawaz said that the presence of doctors and medical staff should be ensured in every government hospital.
CM Maryam was briefed that under “Health at your doorstep”, project 15 lakh citizens will be provided treatment through field hospitals and 40 lakh citizens will be provided help through on-well clinics.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also directed to construct, repair and upgrade all rural and rural health centers. CM was told that upgradation of 2500 BHUs (Basic Health Units) and 300 RHCs (Rural Health Centers) across the province will be completed this year.
Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Sulaiman Rafiq, Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir and others attended the meeting. NNI
