ISLAMABAD, July 27 (NNI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a complaint in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) seeking inquiry into misconduct charges against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja and members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub filed the complaint in the SJC through Barrister Ali Zafar on Saturday.
The PTI prayed to the SJC the CEC and ECP members should be removed from their posts if allegations of misconduct were established against them after the inquiry was held. “The ECP had failed to conduct fair and transparent elections,” it added.
The party alleged that during the general elections PTI polling agents were thrown out of the polling stations. The ECP also failed to issue poll resulted as per the Election Commission law, it added.
The PTI claimed that the ECP deliberately ignore the pre-poll rigging and the PTI members were forced to change loyalties at press conference, their nomination papers were snatched and they were kidnapped.
The ECP did not take any action, the party said, when a ban was imposed on PTI’s coverage. The released of form 45 to the media and polling agents was not on time, the party said, adding the PTI was not allowed to run its election campaign.
It also complained that the returning officers were appointed on political grounds, and the ECP did not only expel the PTI from the elections but it also snatched its reserved seats. NNI
