ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Energy Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari Tuesday said that the government is working on power sector reforms to provide affordable electricity to consumers.
As per report, the minister said that consumers would hear good news regarding cheap electricity in the next few months while talking to a private television channel.
Talks are also underway with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to bring improvement in energy prices, he said.
In reply to a question about the high prices of electricity in Pakistan, he said high interest rates and devaluation in currency were the reasons behind high prices. He, however, said that all possible measures are being taken to reduce the burden on power consumers.
