LAHORE, Oct 13 (NNI): In an effort to prevent the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers from going to Islamabad for the demonstration, police in Lahore, in a crackdown, arrested over 35 workers.

The arrests were made in collaboration with the investigation and organized crime units.

Raids were conducted in Defence, Kot Lakhpat, Johar Town, Township, Mustafa Town, Islampura, Sanda, Mughalpura and other areas.

PTI Punjab Acting President Hammad Azhar has convened the meeting of the party’s ticket holders, MPAs as well as MNAs from across the province today at 5:00 PM to discuss the strategy to ensure that the maximum number of workers could participate in the protest the party had announced to hold at Islamabad’s D-Chow on October 15.

Sources said that given the fact that the PTI is not functional in Lahore, Hammad will announce the strategy for the workers from the city so that they could ensure their participation in large numbers.

Earlier, the channel, while quoting its sources, had reported that due to the possibility of postponement of the protest, the party’s Lahore chapter had failed to draw up the plan for it.

The channel had further reported that there was a group in the PTI, which was in favour of putting off the protest. NNI
