LAHORE, Oct 15 (NNI): Provincial Information Minister Azma Bukhari has stated that the issue regarding the private college was being deliberately sensationalised.

While speaking in the Punjab Assembly session, she emphasised that the parents of the child have confirmed that no such incident occurred.

Bukhari mentioned that there were three girls enrolled in the college, and after visiting their homes, the parents denied any such incident.

She revealed that a security guard has been taken into custody. She questioned the morality while using the name of ‘rape’ on social media.

Bukhari added that the entire hospital record was checked, and parents of the girl have asserted that nothing happened to their daughter. She stated that the child was injured after falling down the stairs.

She expressed readiness to take action if the girl came forward.

Addressing the context of the SCO conference, she suggested that Lahore was being targeted for unrest, urging that the focus should be on the problems of the parents rather than political agendas.

She denied the allegations of rape, pointing out the political exploitation of the incident. She reiterated that actions would only be followed by medical reports.

The minister condemned the closure of the campus without evidence and mentioned that the Chief Minister has formed a committee to report within 48 hours.

She urged against using a victim’s plight for political gain, accusing some of being political vultures seeking to exploit tragedies.

She criticised the media’s role in sensationalising the incident, highlighting the distress it was causing the family. NNI
