RAWALPINDI, Oct 24 (NNI): Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, was released from Adiala Jail on Thursday after Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted her bail in Toshakhana case a day ago.
The judicial staff reached the at Adiala Jail’s Gate 5 along with her release order. They awaited completion of procedure for entering the jail premises.
An accountability court of Islamabad issued orders for her release after a delay of more than 24 hours as Senior Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand and Special Judge Central-2 Hamayun Dilawar “went missing” on Wednesday after the IHC ordered her to be set free.
PTI lawyers contended that they could not submit surety bonds as no official was available during working hours.
Bushra Bibi’s lawyers reached Administrative Judge Jawad Abbas but he also left the court.
Bushra Bibi remained incarcerated for almost nine months. She was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment in the Toshakhana case on January 31 this year. After the court decision, she surrendered herself before the jail authorities and was arrested.
She was transferred to Banigala residence after the Islamabad commissioner declared that a prison. However, she was sent to Adiala Jail on her insistence. The IHC later suspended her sentence and ordered her release. But she was re-arrested after a second case was registered against her.
The release of Bushra Bibi, wife of Imran Khan, in the new Toshakhana case has faced another delay as the release order could not be issued on Wednesday. NNI
