ISLAMABAD, Oct 30 (NNI): Sania Nishtar, member of the Upper House of Parliament belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has resigned from her Senate post on Wednesday.
Sania Nishtar, a former federal minister, has forwarded her resignation to the Senate Secretariat.
She quit his Senate seat in order to take a job in an international organization based in Geneva.
Sania Nishtar had been elected as a senator in 2021 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and had also served as special assistant to the PM in the previous PTI government.
Sania Nishtar, who is a physician by profession, was appointed CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance in 2024. She previously served as Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, with the status of federal minister, and chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and Ehsaas Programme.
Sania had also served previously in the interim federal cabinet in 2013 overseeing public health, education and science sectors. NNI
