MIANWALI, Nov 17 (NNI): Residents are raising serious concerns about the accuracy of dengue test reports issued by the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Mianwali.
They allege that their dengue tests are coming back negative at the DHQ Hospital, while private labs are reporting positive results for the same individuals.
A dengue outbreak has rapidly spread through Mianwali in recent weeks, affecting a large number of people. Local doctors and private labs say they have never seen such a high number of dengue cases in the area before.
However, the official dengue reports from the Punjab government, show a significantly lower number of cases in Mianwali, raising questions and alarm among residents and medical professionals from the area.
One resident, Waqar Mahmood, fell ill and his doctor suspected dengue. The test conducted at the DHQ Hospital came back negative, However, as Waqar’s condition worsened, he got tested at a well-known private lab, which confirmed he had dengue.
Another resident’s family had a similar experience. Despite clear symptoms of dengue and a low platelet count, the DHQ Hospital test was negative. However, a test at a different lab in Chashma area confirmed that the patient had dengue.
