ISLAMABAD, Dec 17 (NNI): Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had no doubt in his mind about the Madaris Registration Bill.
Speaking at the National Assembly, the Minister said that the prime minister had conveyed to him that he was open to a dialogue on the bill.
The minister said the government had great respect for JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and was ready to sit with him so that his concerns regarding the bill could be addressed. However, he added, no bill could be termed complete until and unless the president gave his consent to it.
Earlier, speaking in the NA, the JUI-F chief had said that bringing the Madaris Registration Bill to the House for debate would be unconstitutional.
He lamented that the government had violated the agreement it had reached with the party. “Despite the fact that a consensus had been reached on the bill, changes were made to it,” Maulana Fazl said, adding, “Why the bill was not signed even after it was passed by the parliament.”
The JUI-F chief warned that the party would be left with no other option but to take to the streets if the gazette notification was not issued in this regard. He said he had no objections to convening a joint session of the parliament. NNI
