ISLAMABAD, May 01 (NNI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the President House, Islamabad. Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar were also present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the current security situation in view of the tension with India following the Pahalgam attack.
Both leaders expressed deep concern over India’s aggressive behavior and provocative statements.
According to official statement issued by President House, Indian behavior has threatened regional peace and stability. Pakistan will never compromise on the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
President Zardari pledged that Pakistan will give a befitting reply to any kind of aggression as Pakistani nation was united and stood with its armed forces.
PM Shehbaz said Pakistani forces were capable of giving a befitting reply to any threat or aggression. The meeting also reviewed India’s aggressive behavior and Pakistan’s response to any possible aggression, the statement said. The meeting expressed regret over the allegations made by the Indian leadership regarding the Pahalgam attack without any investigation.
Pakistan has been a victim of terrorism for two decades, suffering immense human and economic losses, statement said. The international community should take note of India’s involvement in funding, training and sending militants to Pakistan for terrorist acts. The President appreciated the government’s response to the baseless Indian allegations and its responsible handling of the situation.
Pakistan will take all necessary steps to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity and vital national interests at all costs, the President said. The meeting also stressed the urgent need to implement the Security Council resolutions for the right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination. The Prime Minister also inquired about the health of the President after his recovery from COVID-19. NNI
