ISLAMABAD (NNI): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called on Omani counterpart Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi at Oman’s Interior Ministry in Muscat.
Both sides also discussed issues in obtaining visas for Pakistanis, anti-narcotics and anti-smuggling police training besides the promotion of cooperation regarding Coast Guards.
Interior Minister Naqvi thanks Sultan of Oman for announcing amnesty for Pakistani prisoners on Eid. Talks were held on enhancing mutual cooperation for repatriation of Pakistanis imprisoned in Omani jails.
Naqvi said, “Oman and Pakistan share common values. We are brothers and neighbors”. He said, “Pak-Oman cooperation will be taken to new heights”. It was decided to improve coordination to promote bilateral cooperation. Both sides agreed that Islamabad and Muscat has been declared as sister cities.
Interior Minister also discussed current regional situation with Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi. Naqvi briefed the Omani Interior Minister on Pakistan’s principled stance on the recent tensions between Pakistan and India. He said blame game on Indian side was flaring tension, adding that Pakistan’s stance is very clear. “If war is imposed, we will give a befitting reply”.
Naqvi said Pakistan was a peaceful country and it wanted lasting peace in the region. He also lauded Oman’s key role in resolving international disputes. NNI
