RAWALPINDI, Mar 06 (NNI): Awami Muslim League chief and former Federal Minister Sheikh Rasheed’s name is excluded from the Exit Control List (ECL) on Wednesday.

A divisional bench comprising justice Sadaqat Ali Khan and Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf of Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi, heard the petition.

The court said according to National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Sheikh Rasheed was not accused in the case while two accused had been charged and on what basis name of Sheikh Rasheed was included in the ECL list?

The ministry of interior officials replied that the name of Rasheed would be excluded from the list after formation of the new cabinet.

However, the court sought immediate report about steps taken to remove Rasheed’s name from the list. The hearing of the case was adjourned till 2pm.

Later, after the adjournment, the court ordered immediate removal of Sheikh Rasheed’s name from the list and allowed him to go for performing Umrah.

The home secretary assured the court that Rasheed’s name was removed from the ECL.

The NAB also replied that Rasheed was not wanted in any other case. NNI
