RAWALPINDI, July 05 (NNI): The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expressed its willingness to sit down with the government, deciding to participate in the upcoming All-Parties Conference (APC).
In an informal conversation with the media in Adiala Jail, PTI Founder Imran Khan said the decision was aimed at fostering national unity and stability amidst ongoing challenges. He emphasized the party’s commitment to Pakistan’s welfare, stating, “We will participate in the APC called by the prime minister for the sake of Pakistan.”
Military operations
He also raised concerns about the recently announced Azm-e-Istehkam operation, highlighting its failure if the Afghan interim government was not taken on board. “If we conduct the operation, the Taliban will flee and enter Afghanistan,” he remarked, stressing the importance of coordinated efforts.
Anti-state statements
The former prime minister also criticized PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Khawaja Asif, accusing them of making anti-state statements. He said he had asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to file FIRs against them, stating, “There are videos of anti-state statements by Nawaz Sharif, Maryam, and Khawaja Asif.”
The PTI founder was firm about the party’s stance on negotiations, indicating that the time for discussions had passed as of February 8 general elections. “Negotiations take place when a solution to a problem is found,” he remarked, adding that if the party negotiates with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, his government would be sent home.
Imran Khan also voiced his discontent with the chief election commissioner, alleging electoral fraud. He warned that if an investigation into the alleged fraudulent election were conducted, Article 6 would be imposed on Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.
“There is doubt that we will not get justice,” he asserted, and hinted that he was considering a hunger strike to demand fair treatment. NNI
