DUBAI, Sep 24 (NNI): A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight narrowly avoided a disaster en route to Dubai after the aircraft suddenly descended 26,000 feet due to a hydraulic system failure.

According to the PIA spokesperson, flight PK-213 departed from Karachi for Dubai when the hydraulic system malfunctioned one hour into the flight, causing the plane to drop 26,000 feet in just six minutes.

The PIA spokesperson said the pilot immediately declared an emergency under the sudden situation.

The spokesperson stated that at an altitude of 10,000 feet, the pilot contacted Muscat Air Traffic Control and radar services for assistance.

Despite the emergency, the pilot skilfully repaired the hydraulic system mid-flight and flew the plane at low altitude for another hour, successfully reaching Dubai.

After a thorough inspection at Dubai Airport, the Airbus A320 continued its scheduled flights to Islamabad and Skardu.

The PIA spokesperson also mentioned that the airline is currently facing a shortage of aircraft parts due to administrative challenges. NNI
