RAWALPINDI, Nov 05 (NNI): A special court accepted the application for exempting Bushra Bibi from appearance and asked for completing arguments in the next hearing of the Toshakhana-II case on November 8.
Special Judge Central Shahrukh took up the case in Adiala Jail. As the defence argued on the acquittal pleas of the founder of PTI and Bushra Bibi, the prosecutor told the court that these were delaying tactics.
Lawyer Salman Safdar, representing Bushra Bibi and PTI founder Imran Khan, filed the request for her exemption and submitted pleas seeking acquittal for both individuals. Safdar argued that additional documents supporting their case were forthcoming and requested more time.
The prosecutor insisted the court should indict the PTI founder and his PTI and Bushra Bibi while the defence bought time to some documents in favour of the acquittal.
Meanwhile, the prosecution opposed the acquittal pleas, arguing they served to delay the indictment process. The prosecutor asserted that the court had previously set multiple dates for indictments, but progress was hindered due to such requests.
The court, after hearing the parties, adjourned the case until Nov 8 and directed both parties to complete arguments on the acquittal pleas by the next hearing.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Faisal Chaudhry alleged the government has been trying to implicate Imran Khan in bogus cases and this case is one of them. “An attempt is being made to keep Khan in prison,” he added.
Taking a swipe at the government, he said the corruption mafia is ruling the state.
However, he said Imran Khan asked the party workers to be ready for a peaceful demonstration against the corruption mafia.
He rejected the reports about Shah Mehmood Qureshi forming a forward bloc. NNI
