LAHORE, Nov 09 (NNI): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Saturday laid floral wreath at the mausoleum of national poet and philosopher Allama Mohammad Iqbal in Lahore on his 147th birth anniversary.
Speaking to media after paying his respects at the tomb of Allama Iqbal on the occasion of Iqbal Day, Attaullah Tarar said they should follow Allama Iqbal’s teachings as implementation on Iqbal’s philosophy of Khudi is need of the hour.
Without naming PTI, Tatar said that an All Parties Conference (APC) was held on Palestine issue which was attended by all political parties of the country except one political party. He said that they adopted a joint declaration on Palestine and Kashmir issues, while some issues must be tacked without political affiliation.
Ataullah Tarar emphasised that no political leader or party was bigger than Pakistan itself, adding that certain matters should be above politics. He stressed that the government had shown generosity towards all political parties in the country.
He stated that hate and division had been intentionally fostered in society, leading to polarisation among people. He reiterated that his party has always sought good relations with other political groups in the country.
In his remarks, Tarar also reiterated the importance of following Iqbal’s philosophy. He noted that Iqbal’s poetry remained a unifying force for the Muslim Ummah, and that his ideas inspired the spirit of freedom among Muslims in the subcontinent.
The anniversary was marked by a ceremony at Iqbal’s mausoleum, where Rear Admiral Azhar Mehmood of the Pakistan Navy was the chief guest.
During the event, a change of guard ceremony took place, with a Pakistan Navy contingent assuming guard duties at the mausoleum. NNI
