ISLAMABAD, May 11 (NNI): Federal Minister of Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has criticised courts for allegedly supporting Imran Khan who is a criminal.

Speaking at a news conference in Islamabad, Ms Aurangzeb claimed that the Supreme Court was supporting those who were burning the country, referring to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Ms Aurangzeb said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested PTI leader Imran Khan in a legal way and added that armed groups were deployed by the PTI under a “well-thought-out conspiracy” to attack government buildings. She also claimed that the PTI leaders had issued instructions to protesters.

The PML-N leader accused courts of showing bias towards the PTI, calling the party ‘terrorists’ and ‘armed groups’, citing incidents such as the burning of Jinnah House and the house of corps commander.

Ms Aurangzeb argued that if relief is given to Imran Khan, then the country would burn. She also accused Imran Khan of theft, claiming he must answer for Rs60 billion.

Ms Aurangzeb called for accountability and urged courts to punish those who break the law.

She criticised former chief justice Saqib Nisar for giving Mr Khan the certificate of Sadiq (truthful) and Amin (honest), claiming that this had contributed to the current situation. Ms Aurangzeb concluded by saying that if courts continued to support criminals, they would be disrespected.

Marriyum Aurangzeb called for severe punishment for all individuals involved in the Al-Qadir Trust case. She emphasised that if Imran Khan would be granted any relief in this case, it would send a message that courts were willing to compromise on justice.

She added that relief to Imran Khan by SC would mean that court granted Imran Khan a “license to kill’.

Ms Aurangzeb strongly believes that justice must be served, and any attempts to undermine it will only lead to a loss of trust in the legal system. NNI
