ISLAMABAD, May 16 (NNI): The Islamabad High Court has extended the interim bail of former premier PTI Chairman Imran Khan in two cases till June 8.
IHC Chief Justice, Justice Aamer Farooq on Tuesday heard the petitions filed by Imran Khan seeking interim bail in two cases pertaining to levelling allegations against top officers of state institutions and manhandling of PML-N leader Mohsin Ranjha by PTI workers.
At the outset of the hearing, Imran’s lawyer Barrister Gohar submitted a request seeking PTI chief’s exemption from the court appearance. The chief justice remarked that the contempt case has also been fixed for hearing today. The CJ inquired whether a case has been registered against making the arrest from the court premises or not. To which, Islamabad advocate general replied that the detailed order of the Supreme Court has not yet been released.
The AG said that the Supreme Court has declared the high court contempt order null and void. The CJ remarked no matter if his order was not there, still people got injured and ransacking was occurred.
Then the chief justice asked whether a complaint has been sent from our office to the police. “I’m afraid the high court will have to go to the sessions court for the registration of the case,” the judge remarked smilingly, adding that “I order the registrar to submit 22-A complaint”.
On the other hand, a local court in Islamabad also adjourned the Toshakhana case without holding any proceedings on it till June 8.
The case was heard by Additional Sessions Judge Hamayun Dilawar.
As the court started its proceedings, the judge was presented the Islamabad High Court stay order. PTI lawyer Gohar Ali told the court that the IHC has issued a stay order. Hearing this, the judge adjourned the case till June 8. NNI
