ISLAMABAD, May 22 (NNI): Despite the passage of three years since the crash of PIA’s plane in Karachi, final investigative report on the incident is yet to be completed.
Relatives of 97 passengers, who had died in the crash, are still anxiously awaiting release of the report while relatives of 17 others are awaiting compensation from the PIA.
PK-8303, heading from Lahore to Karachi, had crashed into a locality on May 22, 2020 just few yards away from the Karachi airport’s runway. Two people had miraculously remained safe in the incident.
PIA spokesman Abdullah Khan has said that PK-8303 was an ill-fated plane. He has said that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Board is probing cause of the crash. He has also made it clear that no responsibility could be fixed unless investigation is complete.
Abdullah has said that following the incident the airline’s management installed latest safety management system, which will alert the PIA about possible crash. He has further said that families of 80 passengers have been paid Rs10 million each under the head of insurance. NNI
