ISLAMABAD, Oct 04 (NNI): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar Friday emphasised that Pakistan was about to become a destination for investment, trade and tourism and PM Shehbaz Sharif’s policies were achieving success.

The path to progress, development and prosperity was going on smoothly and every state was recognising the fact and hailing it, he added.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad Friday, the minister announced that comprehensive arrangements were being made for the hosting of SCO heads of government Summit in Islamabad.

The Minister pointed out Pakistan was hosting such a mega event after many decades which was an honour for the country and the heads of government from the member countries will attend the conference. He said a Saudi high level delegation would also visit Pakistan in the next few days.

Pakistan and Malaysia had friendly bilateral ties and the visit of the Malaysian PM was a good sign that would promote trade in diverse sectors including export of one ton rice and meat from Pakistan.

Minister insisted that the World Bank MD had hailed tax reforms, tax filers had doubled now as compared to the past when no one was used to file taxes. Minister stressed that an increase in tax collection would certainly increase the strength of public welfare projects.

Minister highlighted that inflation had been reduced and recorded at 6.9 pc which was 32 pc last year, with decrease in interest rate and trade deficit and 14 pc increase in exports. These indicators would promote investment that would certainly strengthen the economy.

Tarar stated that global publications and leaders have acknowledged the PM Shehbaz’s policies and efforts and the economy would take off under his leadership. The opposition must also recognise the development in the economy.

Information minister stated that PM Shehbaz Sharif’s speech in the United Nations General Assembly was commended by all global communities including opposition and Palestinian state also uploaded it that would be remembered forever.

The PML-N leader stated that Pakistan was a hospitable country and the portrayal of a positive image was the collective responsibility of all as a protest of opposition would create a negative impact on the Malaysian PM.

Maryam Nawaz had reduced the fares on decrease of petroleum prices and reduced inflation, other provinces must follow Punjab CM governance model and create price control committees.

Tarar suggested KP CM Gandapur to focus on his province’s governance and follow Maryam Nawaz and reduce inflation and transportation fares as these public protests and gatherings wouldn’t create any change. NNI
