ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 (NNI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Barrister Gohar Khan Sunday said that his party would not vote in favour of the new constitutional amendments.
Addressing a press conference along with JUI chief Maulana Fazlu Rahman, he said that PTI took the constitutional amendments matter very seriously and praised Maulana Fazl for taking all the opposition parties on board.
He said PTI’s chairman is Imran Khan and they would take all steps after consulting him only. He said Khan said yesterday that he wanted to consult with opposition leader Omar Ayub before voting on the constitutional amendments.
He thanked Maulana Fazl for his support and said that they would continue to support each other in future as well.
He alleged that their party MPs and senators were harassed and were being forced to change allegiance.
Maulana Fazl acknowledged the party position of the PTI and said it was the right of every party to decide according to their circumstances. He, however, said that all the parties are now agreeing on the proposed draft of the 26th amendment.
Fazl said they have excluded the ‘poisonous aspects’ of the original draft and the new draft is acceptable to all. NNI
