PESHAWAR, Dec 10 (NNI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser said on Tuesday that the party was in contact with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in order to jointly launch an anti-government movement.
Talking to reporters at the premises of the Peshawar High Court (PHC), he said that while on one hand, the law and order situation in the country, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, was poor, on the other hand, the government’s only focus was on suppressing the PTI.
Asad said it was unfortunate that the government was declaring the party leaders and workers presently in jail terrorists. “This is despite the fact that our struggle is guaranteed by the constitution.”
The PTI leader demanded the release of all party prisoners.
He informed that the ceremony, which was to be held on December 13 to remember the martyrs of Islamabad’s D-Chowk, would now be held at Baghe Naran on December 15. “It is so unfortunate that the law-enforcement agencies opened fire at the PTI protestors on the night between November 26 and November 27.”
He lamented that the mandate given by people to the party in the February 8 elections was stolen from it, and later the 26th constitutional amendment was passed in a rush, without any regard for rules and procedures. “Will you call it a democratic government?” he questioned.
Terming the treatment being meted out to Pashtuns in Islamabad and Punjab a ‘conspiracy against the federation’, Asad demanded the accountability of those involved in the harassment of members of the community.
The PTI leader lashed out at the government for stopping trade with Afghanistan. He said that the PPP was equally to blame for the killings of the PTI workers in Islamabad. NNI
