ISLAMABAD, Feb 15 (NNI): While the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) team of technical experts’ visit to Pakistan was over on Friday, the Fund’s second delegation will reach Pakistan in March to review the loan programme for the country. 

Sources told that technical experts, who stayed in Pakistan from February 6 to February 14, checked flaws in the governance system as well as the level of corruption in the country and will publish their findings in July.

They added that there was complete cooperation with members of the delegation and they were given access to the maximum number of people with whom they came into contact to get the information they required.

The visitors were briefed on judicial reforms besides the procedure of hearing of cases in the country’s courts, the steps taken to ensure quick disposal of cases, including those relating to tax matters.

Similarly, the team was informed about property rights, digitalization of land record and amendments to the Civil Servants Act.

On the other hand, another delegation of the money-lending organisation will reach Pakistan on February 24 on a weeklong tour to hold negotiations with the officials on the 26th programme under the Climate Resilience Fund.

In case, these talks remain successful, the country will receive over $1 billion. This will be the first climate programme for Pakistan. Bangladesh has already benefitted from this programme. NNI
