BAHAWALPUR, Feb 15 (NNI): Inauguration Ceremonies of Green Agri Mall and Service Company, Smart Agri Farm, Agri Research and Facilitation Centre under Green Pakistan Initiative Projects was held Saturday at Kandai and Chapu, Cholistan.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M) along with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam visited Green Pakistan Initiative projects in Cholistan and attended the day long activities.

The COAS and the Punjab chief minister also inaugurated the Smart Agri Farm, Green Agri Malls, and the Agri Research Facilitation Center.

Addressing the gathering, COAS Gen Asim Munir expressed resolve that the Pakistan Army would continue its support in economic development of the country.

The COAS said Punjab had emerged as an agricultural powerhouse of Pakistan. He acknowledged the leading role of Punjab Province by attaining the position of Powerhouse for Pakistan’s Agriculture Sector. He said the achievements made in a short period of time under the Green Corporate Program were encouraging and a harbinger of progress.

General Asim Munir assured that Army would continue its support for economic development of the country.

While addressing the notables, farmers, stakeholders and Shujda’s families, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the foundation for a revolution in modern agriculture had been laid in Cholistan and Punjab.

She said the development of agriculture was the guarantee of farmers’ progress and the prosperity in Pakistan.

She praised the launch of multifaceted GPI Projects and transformative Initiatives. She underscored that Agriculture is the lifeline of Pakistan.

Also handed over land allotment letters to next of kin of shuhada and war wounded families. She lauded the efforts of Green Pakistan Initiative towards introducing contemporary best practices in Pakistan’s agriculture Sector.

During the visit, participants were also briefed on modern agricultural machinery used for the development of the agriculture sector.

The spearhead Initiative of Green Agri Mall and Service Company aims to serve as one stop solution for farmers, providing them high quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, fuel at controlled rates on door steps.

The provision of rental farming machinery and implements including drones at lowest possible cost would further facilitate our farmers. The establishment of Smart Agri Farm on 5,000 acres with modern agri techniques along with use of High Efficiency Irrigation System would demonstrate a specimen for our farmers, endeavoring for maximum crop yield at lowest possible cost.

The Agri Research and Facilitation Centre would provide all agri and technical input including provision of laboratory services. Its connectivity with all Research and Academic partners within the country would capture further ventures.

The event was also attended by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Water Resources Dr Mussadiq Malik, Senior Provincial Minister Ms Marrium Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister Agri and Livestock Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, Provincial Minister for Irrigation Muhammad Kazim Pirzada. Concerned Federal and Provincial secretaries were also present at the event. NNI
