ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (NNI): Following the special directions of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, the Islamabad Capital Police has initiated a comprehensive awareness campaign aims to empower citizens with the tools and knowledge to safeguard their mobile phones, a public relations officer said

He said that the special campaign emphasizes swift action in the event of mobile phone loss by allowing citizens to immediately block their devices through the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) website. This step not only prevents the unauthorized use of stolen phones but also acts as a deterrent to criminals engaged in such activities. The official PTA website for reporting mobile phone theft is https://complaint.pta.gov.pk.

Lost or stolen mobile phones that are reported and blocked via this process become unusable for any criminal activity. ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan underscores that purchasing stolen mobile phones is a punishable offense under the law, carrying a penalty of up to 3 years of imprisonment.

ICCPO, stated that, “Our priority is to ensure the safety and security of every citizen. This awareness campaign is a proactive step towards curbing mobile phone theft and its associated criminal activities. We are committed to maintaining peace and protecting the well-being of our residents.”

Citizens are encouraged to collaborate closely with the Islamabad Capital Police in their efforts to maintain a secure environment. Any suspicious incidents or activities should be promptly reported to the respective police station or by dialing “Pucar-15”.  NNI
