LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a meeting of the Food Department to review flour prices in the market.
During the meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz presented market data and expressed her displeasure over food department officials for presenting wrong data on flour prices. During the meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz said the government will determine the price of flour according to the category of Pakistan Quality Control Standard.
Maryam Nawaz called for the daily report of the market price of flour. In the meeting, it was decided to allow the transportation of flour with a permit. The Chief Minister also directed the restructuring of the food department and corrupt elements. She ordered legal action against corrupt officials.
The Chief Minister also ordered to create a mechanism for digital monitoring of the officers and employees of the Food Department. Chief Minister said that she will not allow to increase in the prices of flour illegally – the mafias are doing their work and the departments are sleeping. If the departments will not do their work, how will the governance improve?
She said the farmer has sold his wheat, now they will not allow the mafia to exploit the people. During the briefing, the meeting was told that there are 2.2 million metric tons of wheat government reserves in Punjab. Punjab has a total of more than 6 million metric tons of wheat. Geo-tagging of wheat stocks was being done for stocking purposes.
Senator Pervez Rasheed, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Uzma Zahid Bukhari, Ministers Bilal Yasin, Syed Ashiq Hussain, Chief Secretary, Secretaries and other relevant officials attended.
