ISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (NNI): Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Syed Mohsin Naqvi has clarified that no military operations are underway in Balochistan.
Speaking on the floor of the Senate on Friday, the interior minister said, “We will support those who recognise the state, but those who do not acknowledge and take up arms are terrorists, and we will deal with them accordingly.”
Naqvi mentioned that the Prime Minister was in Quetta yesterday and met with all stakeholders. He added that the Prime Minister has allocated Rs5 billion for the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Balochistan while eight billion rupees have been allocated for provincial divisions. He said the amount would be utilized to resolve local issues.
Referring to the incident that occurred on the night of the 26th, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said, “It was a well-planned conspiracy, and we know who is behind it.”
Mohsin Naqvi also added that attempts are being made to disrupt the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) conference.
The interior minister emphasised that “Parliament is supreme, and it will remain supreme.”
He also highlighted a major issue in Balochistan—the shortage of officers. However, officers from the federal level are being sent to Balochistan to address this concerns.
Mohsin Naqvi urged all political forces to stand united against those who challenge the writ of the state.
Responding to various points raised by Senators, the minister said everyone who accepts the state is important and we will address their concern, but no one will be allowed to hold gun against the state.
Taking the floor, Leader of the Opposition Shibli Faraz stressed the need for political engagement to resolve the issues.
