Washington.(NNI): Consul General Tariq Karim attended an event held in remembrance of the world-renowned Pakistani art legend, Sadequain, at Glendale Heights, Illinois. The event, organized by Bridge Media USA, was attended by a number of literary figures from Illinois and across the US. The speakers paid rich tribute to Sadequain while emphasizing various aspects of his life, artwork and poetry.

Speaking at the occasion as Chief Guest, the Consul General highlighted Sadequain as one of the greatest painters and calligraphers who painted more than 15,000 pieces of artwork consisting of fascinating paintings, gigantic murals, innovative calligraphies and exquisite drawings. He praised Sadequain, a recipient of many civil awards in Pakistan and around the world, for his invaluable contribution to Pakistani art, particularly in Islamic calligraphy and creative painting. The Consul General encouraged the audience to continue to promote Pakistani culture and arts. He said that art, with its diverse forms of manifestation, is an effective medium of creativity & expression which fosters mutual understanding, linkages and friendship.

Sadequain’s nephew, President and Founder of the Sadequain Foundation USA, Mr. Salman Ahmad shared his memories of the celebrated painter. A documentary on the life and art of Sadequain was shown, and a collection of his artwork was on display.NNI
