The country has achieved a significant improvement in its cybersecurity ranking, moving up from its previous score of 79 to join the top tier of global cybersecurity leaders. Tier 1, labeled as “role modeling,” represents the highest category with scores ranging between 95 and 100, placing Pakistan among 46 leading nations in cybersecurity implementation.
IT experts indicate that the mandatory VPN registration aims to prevent unauthorized online activities and strengthen national security. The initiative is designed to regulate internet usage while maintaining legitimate user privacy. Unregistered VPNs have been identified as potential tools for accessing and sharing sensitive content that could compromise national security.
The government has established the National Cyber Security Task Force to combat cyber threats and implement protective measures. This development has contributed to Pakistan’s improved global cybersecurity standing and enhanced its digital infrastructure.
Officials report that the new regulations will help monitor and prevent illegal online activities while ensuring compliance with national interests and public safety protocols.
